Rev. Al Sharpton called for federal police laws on Wednesday following the shooting death of Walter Scott in South Carolina. “There must be national policy and national law on policing,” Sharpton said at the National Action Network’s annual convention. “We can’t go from state to state, we’ve got to have national law to protect people against these continued questions.” Sharpton’s comments were met with applause from the officials on stage with him, including New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, Harlem Congressman Charles Rangel, and New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman.
