Well, that’s embarrassing. Southwest Airlines was forced to cancel at least 57 flights on Friday, and at least 250 were delayed. Why? A computer glitch. The problem was detected around 8 p.m. PDT on Friday, and the company wasn’t able to get backup systems up and running again until three hours later. The main system was finally back up on Saturday morning. The glitch made such things as conducting check-ins, printing boarding passes and monitoring aircraft weight impossible. There’s nothing like starting a vacation with some turbulence.
