Some unexpected, non-tech-related news from Apple today. CEO Steve Jobs announced to employees he is taking a medical leave of absence from the company. He will continue as CEO, with COO Tim Cook now responsible for Apple’s daily operations. “I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can,” wrote Jobs. Jobs suffered from pancreatic cancer in 2004 and underwent a liver transplant in April 2009. He took a similar six-month leave of absence in 2009 for health reasons.
