After Steve McPherson’s resignation as president of ABC earlier this week, the Los Angeles Times reports Wednesday that Paul Lee is likely to take his place in the Walt Disney Co. The British-born Lee began his career reporting on the strife in Northern Ireland, was among the top executives at BBC America, and is now president of ABC Family. Over the past six years, he’s transformed the channel into a hit maker, from breakout smash Secret Life of the American Teenager to this summer’s Pretty Little Liars. “They have really hit the ball out of the park in original programming. Each year, they seem to launch a successful new show,” one industry executive told the L.A. Times. According to the paper, Lee was unavailable for comment.
