Straight Outta Compton is not currently playing in its namesake city because there are no theaters in the area. There are ongoing efforts to improve the entertainment resources in the city including the construction of a 16-screen cinema. Dr. Dre also plans to donate proceeds from his album Compton to create a new arts center for children in the neighborhood.
