Students at New York City’s elite Dalton School were sent home early today, after one of their classmates fell to his death from an empty 11th-floor dance studio. A group of horrified fourth-graders playing on East 89th Street, which had been closed for recess, witnessed the 17-year-old junior’s plunge and were hustled inside by a security guard. The boy’s death is being considered a suicide, although he left no note. Investigators say he opened the top part of the window and jumped out, narrowly missing several children as his body fell on the pavement in front of the school. “I heard a loud bang,” said security guard Michael Brown. “It sounded like a gunshot...he was just dead.”
