A lower court in Sweden upheld an arrest warrant for Julian Assange on Wednesday, ruling that the WikiLeaks founder’s presence at Ecuador’s embassy in London is not the same as detention. The 44-year-old is wanted for questioning in rape allegations from a 2010 incident. Assange denies the allegations. Assange has been at the embassy—evading questioning—since June 2012. “The district court finds that there is still probable cause for the suspicion against JA [Julian Assange] for rape, less serious incident, and that there is still a risk that he will depart or in some other way evade prosecution or penalty,” the court said in a statement.
