Police found Julie K. Schenecker, 50, covered in blood on the back porch of her home in Tampa, Florida on Friday morning, after receiving a call from Schenecker's mother expressing concern over the well-being of her daughter and grandchildren. Schenecker's 13-year-old son Beau was found dead in the family's SUV, which was parked in the garage, while his sister Calyx, 16, was found dead in a bedroom inside. According to reports, Schenecker shot her son while driving him to soccer practice and then followed suit with her daughter, who was at home studying on her computer. Her only explanation for the murders was that her children "talked back" and were "mouthy." Schenecker was arrested for two counts of first-degree murder and initially brought to jail, but is now in a Tampa General Hospital where she is being treated for an existing medical condition.
