While many Americans were nursing a hangover or running to Interstellar on Saturday, Florida teen Zach Bonner was setting a Guinness World Record for most food collected in a 24-hour period. The 16-year-old collected 566,600 pounds of food in Tampa Bay, Florida, smashing the previous record of 559,885 pounds, which was collected in Durham, North Carolina in 2011. While Bonner worked closely with Metropolitan Ministries and Feeding America Tampa Bay, the teen was the one who spearheaded the race agaisnt the clock to fight hunger. "Thank you all for working so hard,” he told the waiting crowd of volunteers after the 24 hours had finished. "We are the new record holders."
