The Tennessee House passed a bill on Wednesday which would allow mental health counselors to deny services based on religious grounds, which is likely to affect people in the LGBT community. The bill passed with a 68-22 vote and is now on the governor’s desk for approval. Opponents of the legislation contend that it will be used to block services for LGBT individuals. The Tennessee Equality Project has called on the governor to veto the legislation.
