A French tennis player has been banned from the 2017 French Open after he tried to force a female television reporter to kiss him live on air on Monday. Maxime Hamou, 21, has had his accreditation revoked and now is under investigation by the French Tennis Federation. The organization called his behavior “reprehensible.” The reporter, Maly Thomas, can be seen during the interview trying to claw her way out of his clutches as he held her around the neck and shoulders. He has since apologized. Anchors and commentators who witnessed the incident laughed and clapped while it happened. Thomas said she “would have punched him” if they weren’t live on air. French politician Cécile Duflot tweeted: “He kisses her by force, she tries to get away, he holds her by the neck and everyone... laughs #tired.”
