Half of the top 16 metro areas with a growth rate of 6 percent or more in 2014 were in Texas, the Commerce Department reported Wednesday. The Midland region of the Lone Star State led the pack with a 24.1 percent bump in GDP. The reason all these areas of Texas are prospering is thanks to mining, oil, and and natural gas.
