Are fraudulent credit-card charges the price celebrities now have to pay for good skin care? “Skin artist” Gabriela Perez, who provided treatments to celebrities from Jennifer Aniston to Anne Hathaway, has been charged with using clients’ credit-card information to make fraudulent purchases of at least $280,000. The criminal complaint named Liv Tyler as a major victim, with prosecutors alleging Perez made $214,000 in fraudulent charges on the actress’ American Express card last year. Jewelry designer Loree Rodkin was Perez’ first client to inform federal investigators of the scam. Other victims, according to the information Rodkin’s lawyer provided, include Melanie Griffith, Scott Speedman, and Cher, who endorses Perez’ Beverly Hills spa—called Chez Gabriela Studio—on the salon’s website.
