The storms predicted in recent weather reports have hit the East Coast, stranding hundreds of motorists, canceling flights, and killing three in Virginia. Both Washington, D.C. and Virginia have declared a state of emergency in the face of the huge blizzard, which is expected to hit the Mid-Atlantic with 10 to 20 inches of snow, wreaking havoc on one of the biggest retail weekends of the year. The storm, which D.C. Mayor Adrian Fenty is calling "perhaps the biggest we've seen in several years," caused Delta, American, and Virgin America to cancel all flights in and out of Washington Dulles, and some flights into and out of Baltimore and Philadelphia.
