Two of Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson’s top campaign aides have resigned, The Des Moines Register reported Thursday afternoon. Campaign manager Barry Bennett and communications director Doug Watts have departed “effective immediately,” the pair confirmed. On the phone with The Washington Post, Bennett said, “My frustration level has peaked with Dr. Carson’s outside advisers.” This comes just a week after Bennett told The Daily Beast that there would be no shakeup in staff. Watts has previously discussed “tensions” between the campaign and business manager Armstrong Williams, which reportedly led to their departure today.
