According to local sources, Lebanon faces crucial challenges after a tribunal investigating the assassination of former premier Rafik Hariri issued indictments and arrest warrants for members of Hezbollah, a main party in the government, analysts and Western diplomatic sources said 01 July. Hariri's assassination on February 14, 2005, was widely blamed on Syria and its allies in Lebanon, caused a national and international outcry and sparked a wave of massive protests, which forced Syria to withdraw its troops from Lebanon after a 29-year deployment.
