Gen. John Campbell, the top commander of U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan, said Monday that Saturday’s deadly airstrike on a hospital was requested by the Afghan government. The bombing killed 22 people at a clinic run by Doctors Without Borders in Kunduz. Campbell said Afghan forces requested air support while trying to rout the Taliban from the northern city. Civilians were “accidentally struck.” A Pentagon investigation is underway.
