The U.S. embassy in London was a target of the men arrested last week in England. British police arrested twelve men on December 20 in counter-terrorism raids, but there were few specifics in the case at the time. The police statement said only that the men intended to cause “explosions of a nature likely to endanger life or cause serious injury to property.” But a U.S. State Department official confirmed on Monday that the U.S. Embassy in London was on the list of targets. “You asked me if we were aware that we were on the targeting list and I confirmed that,” State Department spokesmen Mark Toner responded to a reporter.
