The U.S. Justice Department indicted 14 suspected pirates for the hijacking of a yacht and murder of four Americans last month. The yacht was attacked in the Gulf of Aden, several hundred miles south of Oman, and the boat’s owners—two from Marina del Rey, California, and two others from Seattle, Washington—were killed. U.S. naval forces were trailing the yacht with drones and warships and negotiating with the hostage-takers when the pirates fired a rocket-propelled grenade. It was the first time U.S. citizens have been killed by the pirates who have been plaguing the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean.
