Data released Thursday shows that violent incidents in American schools declined between the 2009-2010 and 2013-2014 school years, in the same time period as security measures like cameras increased. Only 65 percent of U.S. schools reported a violent incident in the 2013-2014 school year—down from 74 percent in 2009-2010. Serious violent incidents also fell, from 16 percent to 13 percent, in that time period, despite several high-profile school shootings.
