As tensions between the U.S. and Iran continue to increase, Iran’s state television aired video of an alleged CIA spy confessing his mission. The American-Iranian man is Amir Mirzaei Hekmati, believed to be in his late 20s, who was trained by the U.S. in Iraq and Afghanistan before being deployed to infiltrate Iran’s secret service. In the video, Hekmati says that he was told to give Iran’s intelligence ministry some valuable information so they would see “the good things” and trust him. The broadcast also showed several images of Hekmati with U.S. troops. The U.S. government has not responded to the claims.
