Reports say at least 50 militants were killed and an additional 30 were wounded in a U.S. military airstrike Tuesday at an al Qaeda training camp in southern Yemen. The recruits were lining up for dinner at the camp when the U.S. strikes hit, a local official said. Large fires inside the camp, near the port city of Mukalla, were set off during the operation, Reuters reported. The U.S. considers al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula—or AQAP—one of the deadliest branches of the network founded by Osama bin Laden. Pentagon officials confirmed the strike, but declined to give further details.
