The U.S. will reduce its military presence in Pakistan at the request of the Pakistani government, a Pentagon spokesman said Wednesday. More than 200 members of the U.S. military have been in Pakistan to help train the army, but diplomatic relations between the countries have been tense since the May 2 raid that killed Osama bin Laden. Pakistan has condemned the U.S. for conducting the raid without their knowledge and has pushed for an end to drone attacks. Last week, the U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan traveled to Islamabad and sources said he called for proof that Pakistan is hunting senior al Qaeda officials.
