Utah Gov. Gary R. Herbert plans to sign two pieces of legislation Tuesday taking aim at the pornography industry. The resolution of the pair definitively declares porn to be "a public health hazard leading to a broad spectrum of individual and public health impacts and societal harms," and claims that it treats "women as objects and commodities for the viewer's use." While the resolution contains no enforcement powers, Herbert will also sign a law requiring computer technicians who find child pornography while performing their work must report it to police or face a class-B misdemeanor.
