What's So Controversial About This Gap Ad?
Sure, it's not destined to be a classic like "Dress You Up," but is the new Gap holiday ad really that bad? The American Family Association sure thinks so. They've called for a brand boycott because of the alleged ban on the word "Christmas" in favor of the more neutral "Holiday." Ho, ho, oh boy.

MYeezy

I don't get it. Gap is censoring a word (Christmas) that is said 7 seconds into the commercial?

Umm...what?

I'm pretty sure DB editors don't actually read/watch half the stuff they post. Hence the non-sensical caption.

The only controversy is for the American Family Association. To the rest of the world, this a fun ad that is able to get everyone in the holiday spirit. I'm just sad that we don't have the Gap in Australia ;-(

It's just the christian taliban having their annual hissy-fit over companies that address ALL holidays during the season; from Hanaukah to Kwanza (I think they forgot Fetivus!) all are included in, what I think, is a great, fun commercial.

The AFA is just doing their usual "bah humbug" act to make folks feel guilty for not acknowledging THEIR christ. Sorry losers in my book.

Hear hear co-intheknow! I wish more Americans would speak up and shout down what is becoming an annual [non]controversy stirred up by right wing Christians who are bitter that they can't dictate every aspect of America's cultural life. Not a huge fan of The Gap, but I'm really supportive of their open-hearted attempt to appeal to all beliefs in what has arguably become the world's biggest secular holiday no matter what you call it.

OMG! Get over it! So what if they use the word "Holiday"! Christmas was mentioned also. Complete hypocrisy on part of the AFA! The Holiday season is not only for Christians and if they were true to their beliefs, they would understand that!
