Finally tired of looking like, well I was going to say puppets, but that would be too kind.
The natives are restless........
They are finally acting like reporters asking non-softball questions. I see their point and I see the administration's. The press wants an open forum without planted reporters and pre-selected questions. However, I don't think that works well with the teleprompter.
Were these the same "reporters" that asked whether Obama will take a run with Palin? Oh yeah, real journalism that be.
There have not been planted questions!
Nico Pitney was asked to find a question from an Iranian regarding America's plans to recognize Iran's government.
Obama dodged the question.
where were these outraged reporters when Jeff Gannon was among several Republican plants in the press corp and media, and a slew of conservative talk show hosts and Fox News commentators were allowed eight years of unprecedented access to the White House to promote propaganda...save me the F'ing outrage Helen
Look, the Bush Whitehouse controlled the media, and the journalists were derelict in their duties, but lets not be so hard on Helen edenscape24. Bush TOTALLY shut Helen down and never called on her again after she asked a particularly probing question early on. Helen is SPOT ON with her question to Gibbs! I voted for Obama and expected the change he advertised. Now we have secret visitors logs as well as the issues Helen brought up at this daily briefing (not to mention indefinite detention, etc, ad nausium). I'm embarrassed now that I was so trusting of Obama. I have spent the last 18 months preaching to my (R) "friends" about how different Obama was going to be. And now all this shit? Just cuz Bush got away with it does not give Obama carte blanche on the non-transparency. Its a shame and a sham.
The OUTRAGE, dear edenscape24, is that Obama loyalists refuse to hold Obama accountable and act like teeny boppers at a teen idol concert. The OUTRAGE is that it is starting to feel like we've been duped. I HATE that I'm saying this because I am a progressive dyed in the wool Dem who donated to Obama's campaign and actually believed him when he spoke about changing what I considered to be THE most important issues during the Bush years... the BUSH POLICIES! Obama has picked up the baton and is running with it and it makes me want to puke.
I'm still holding my breath to see if things pan out for the better over the course of the next 3.5 years. But Obama and the rogue "centrist" dems can kiss my ass in 2012 if things don't start to change. (I'd NEVER vote Repube, so don't go there with me... gimme a liberal progressive candidate any day)

When are we going to hear the questions such as this re this theatre of Obama's?
The woman who has the cancer and Obama hugged and said his staff would look into finding help...
she is a health care activist and worked with Daschle in December of 2008 organizing meetings to push the Health Care Reform of Obama...
granted she has cancer, but why didn't Obama's staff or Daschle's or the organizations that are working with Obama on this crappy health care repression help her before this? why did they wait until the cameras were on her this 6 months later?
why didn't they get help for her in those 6 months?
can we hear that question?
can we hear what a phoney pre-arranged set up these so-called town hall meetings are?
how about the fact that all the questions asked were by associates of Obama and working with him?
It's about time Helen...
Kind of says it all about obama and his regime .. Contrived.
The first coherent thing I've ever heard her say.
I can picture the angst of the non-Fox reporters trying to think up hard questions for Gibbs, but having trouble coming up with any. After all, they are his political base.
Now......THAT is change we can believe in!
All reporters, no matter who is in the White House, love to "whine"..
Its a Sad Sad day when the faithful start leaving the flock! "lmktacwa" I applaud you! I am a conservative and I questioned the policies of the Bush admin. You are one of the first supporters of the Obama faithful that I have seen question his admin. This is just the beginning. To bad I don't see many of the regular liberals commenting on this issue that are always carping about something and supporting Obama's socialist regime and his transperancy. Duped I tell you! Duped!
I have been a life-long Democrat, but I am horrified by the presumptuous, arrogant nature of this administration. Gibbs, to me, is insolent, condescending, and not at all amusing. Helen Thomas is a fine, long-standing reporter. Her seniority should be respected. It is deplorable how Gibbs behaves towards her, and how Obama, too, behaves towards her. I watched Obama ignore, and laugh at her, and Gibbs does the same. Just who do they think they are? Bush made no bones about managing the press...actually he seemed to enjoy them. Obama is hypocritical in saying he wanted transparency, and then managing the news and media more than any other President. He is way too ambitious; the press needs to stop worshiping him (for what I have no idea), and start criticizing him, and holding him to his pledges. He is not the man we voted for, nor are his policies. He is more at home in the NY City board rooms than with the common man. Michelle made a comment she was criticized for in the campaign, and we never saw her again, till he was elected.
It infuriates me that they treat Helen the way they do, Clinton and Kennedy always were gracious and kind to her, but then that was their nature. One can read a lot into how a man treats an older woman. Obama and Gibbs should be ashamed of themselves. They seem to think that they are above others..that elitism, arrogance, sense of entitlement. It is a pity. We have so many good Democrats who are descent to others, whomever they are, whatever their station in life. How dare they brush Helen away in such a callous fashion. Goes to who they are as persons..their true characters. I do not blame Helen for one second for being angry. It took several days for this to be covered, and the mainstream press has not touched it, yet they espouse to be reporters. Why doesn't Gibbs just do away with the press conferences and do all on emails and twitter...he is so audacious. It is disgusting, and it enrages me. I am sorry that more persons are not enraged. Goes to the apathy of our nation...why Obama was elected. I voted for him, but I so regret it now. But no alternative. If Michigan, Florida and caucuses been fairly handled, he would not have been our candidate.
This seems to be a tendency of the media to be more skeptical of those who are closer to them politically. These sort of questions were not asked of our 43rd presidents adminstration. And he gave far fewer interviews.
Thank you.
