Michel Gondry’s underrated 2008 gem Be Kind Rewind was somewhat prophetic. In the film, Jack Black and Mos Def play two goofs whose all-heart/no-budget re-enactments of classic movies become smash hits in their New Jersey neighborhood. The adjective 'sweded'—as the film describes the remakes—entered the real world, and thanks to YouTube, so did some clever low-tech takes on great films.
The folks at Cinefix have made their own 'sweded' version of a battle scene from early on in The Empire Strikes Back. Using cardboard AT-ATs and snowspeeders, as well as some good old-fashioned creativity, this 'Homemade' scene pays tribute to the imagination and ingenuity that made the original Star Wars trilogy so much fun.
