Grocery chain Wegmans is recalling about 1,000 pounds of chicken after a federal inspector found that the company altered its schedule and allowed some of the poultry produced Sunday to slip past inspection. The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday night that it was issuing a Class 1 recall on the chicken, which was distributed to locations in Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. Officials said there was “a reasonable probability” that consuming the chicken would result in adverse health consequences or death.
