Republican Scott Brown revealed he’s a moderate on social issues, particularly on abortion, in an exclusive interview with Barbara Walters for ABC News’ The Week. The newly elected Brown referred to himself as a “Scott Brown Republican,” who opposes federal funding for abortion, but supports a woman’s right to choose to have one or not. Brown did, however, say he’s against partial-birth abortions and that there should be an effort to reduce abortions on the whole. According to the senator-elect, a “Scott Brown Republican” is also fiscally conservative. The socially moderate senator said he would not rule out running for the presidency in 2012 and opened up to Walters about his difficult and sometimes violent childhood, but warned the notoriously tear-producing newswoman, “I’m not going to cry.”
