Harvard Protests Tyga Concert

Over 2,000 students have signed petition against rapper’s “extremely violent and misogynistic lyrics.”

Rapper Tyga’s song “Rack City” is everywhere these days. Harvard students just don’t want to hear it on their campus. An online petition was started protesting Tyga’s performance at the university’s upcoming Yardfest concert because of his “explicitly and violently misogynistic” lyrics. A Change.org petition urging Harvard to cancel Tyga’s performance has garnered over 2,000 signatures. The university responded by pushing back the start time of his performance until “after dinner” so that students can still socialize at Yardfest without hearing lyrics that may be offensive—from “Rack City,” for example, which The New York Times describes as “strip-club anthem.”
