Tucson Shooting Survivor Heckles Senate

Woman who helped stop Jared Loughner’s shooting rampage two years ago shouts, “Shame on you!” after the Senate failed to pass a gun proposal.

Patricia Maisch, a survivor of the 2011 Tucson, Arizona, shooting that killed six people and wounded former representative Gabrielle Giffords, spoke her mind after the Senate rejected a proposal to impose tighter background checks on gun sales Wednesday. “Shame on you!” she shouted from the gallery, breaking the rules of the Senate. “I could not stay still,” she told reporters afterward. “They should be ashamed of themselves ... If it had been a yes vote, I wouldn’t have said anything. It was spontaneous—but I was prepared to do that.” Maisch helped end Jared Loughner's shooting rampage in Tucson two years ago when she disarmed him by wrestling away a magazine of bullets.
