Courtney Jarrell, a 22-year-old teacher at Riverton High School, has been charged with object rape and forcible sexual abuse of a 17-year old female student. She had been working in the school district for less than a year when she was placed on administrative leave last month, after allegations were first made (the crimes are said to have taken place in February and March at the teacher’s home). Jarrell taught math and coached the sophomore girls’ basketball team. She resigned after being released on bail on Friday, and is scheduled to appear in court on May 16. Her charges (of one first- and one second-degree felony) carry a sentence of five years to life in prison.
Courtney Jarrell was arrested on Friday.
