There Will Be an Amy Winehouse Documentary

Created by award-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia.

BAFTA-winning filmmaker Asif Kapadia will be making a documentary film about the life of troubled singer Amy Winehouse, the film’s distributor said Wednesday. The film will include never-seen-before archival footage of Winehouse, who died of alcohol poisoning in 2011 at the age of 27.  In a statement, Kapadia and film’s producer, James Gay-Rees, issued a statement calling Winehouse a “once-in-a-generation talent” and said “tragically, Amy seemed to fall apart under the relentless media attention, her troubled relationships, her global successes and precarious lifestyle.” Kapadia’s previous film, Senna, was a portrait of racecar driver Ayrton Senna, who was killed at the Grand Prix in San Marino in 1994.
