Biden Describes His Push to Pass Violence Against Women Act

Calls work on legislation ‘the single most important cause of my life.’

It’s going to be hard for The Onion to make jokes about this one. Vice President Joe Biden said Wednesday that fighting domestic violence is the “single most important cause of my life.” Biden spoke to the D.C. Volunteer Lawyers Project, which his daughter-in-law chairs, on Wednesday night, telling the group about his work pushing the Violence Against Women Act. He said the legislation was meant not only to combat domestic violence but also to prevent it by changing attitudes. “They don’t want to get raped again by the system,” Biden said, according to the White House pool report.
