The FBI announced on Thursday that Joanne Chesimard has been added to the most-wanted terrorist watchlist—the first woman to be added. Chesimard was convicted of killing New Jersey state trooper Werner Foerster 40 years ago, and was sentenced to life in prison. In 1979, she escaped from prison with the help of the Black Liberation Army. She’s been on the run ever since, and is believed to be in Cuba, living under the name Assata Shakur. The reward for her capture is $2 million.
Meet Joanne Chesimard. First woman on most-wanted terrorist list.
