Susan G. Komen for the Cure’s founder was paid quite a pretty penny last year. Nancy Brinker received a whopping 64 percent raise, bringing her salary to $684,717 for fiscal year 2012. That amounts to an hourly rate of roughly $240. Last year, Komen was cast in a harsh light after revelations that it spent only 15 percent of its donations on research and nixed funding for breast-cancer screenings and services for Planned Parenthood. As a result, Komen’s chief financial officer and president stepped down. Brinker, who founded the organization in memory of her sister, relinquished her title of CEO and said her new role will be chairwoman of the executive committee.
Even after tumultuous year with declining membership.
