Hey, Jenny who? And why would a women’s group back a woman in an election anyway? A conservative women’s group that had been one of the early backers of Mark Sanford claimed credit for his victory Tuesday night. Independent Women’s Voice came into the district to support Sanford after the National Republican Campaign Committee decided it was better to sit this one out, given Sanford’s resignation in disgrace nearly four years ago. Just two weeks before the election, polls showed Sanford down by 9 points to Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch, despite that Mitt Romney had solidly won the district by 18 points in November. The IVW decided the race was competitive after all and underwent a campaign of TV and print ads focusing on repealing Obamacare.
And claims credit for his victory.
