Chicago Filmmakers Making ‘Real Women’ Documentary

Want to ask women what they would do if they weren’t afraid.

Two Chicago filmmakers are seeking real women to tell their stories in a new documentary. Heartfelt Productions, founded by Dana Michelle Cook and Sarah Moshman, is seeking to ask women one question: what would you do if you weren’t afraid? “It’s all underneath the surface, and we just want to get on that and capitalize and help,” Moshman told the Chicago Tribune. Inspired in part by Sheryl Sandberg’s Lean In, Cook and Moshman will be taking an all-female roadtrip—or “estrogen on wheels” as they referred to it—across the country to find women who will share their stories. “We’d really like to spotlight how that woman got to where she is and share that story with other young women on how to get to that same spot,” Moshman said. “What do they define as success? How did they get where they are and what struggles did they face?” Moshman and Cook are hoping to raise $25,000 for their trip through Kickstarter, and so far they have raised 52 percent. Their deadline is May 27.
