Women may not be running the show above ground in India, but let’s not count out the underground. Four metro stations in Calcutta are now quite successfully “manned” by women, reports The Times of India. One of the four women, Indrani Malick, has been the superintendent of the Maidan Metro station for the past three years. And in 2012, it was voted best Metro station in the country. Protyush Ghosh, the DGM/G of Metro Railway said of the women: “Some of them have even performed better than their men counterparts.”
Women run four subway stations in India.
