Oh, God, this really happened. Paul Tudor Jones, the billionaire founder of Tudor Investment and number 108 on the Forbes 400 power list, told college students that women will never be at the top of industry because having children is a “killer” to a woman’s focus. “As soon as that baby’s lips touched that girl’s bosom, forget it,” Jones said, describing two women he worked with in the 1970s who married and had children, only to fall behind. “I’ve just seen it happen over and over.” Later, Jones insisted his “off-the-cuff” remarks applied to global macro traders, a tiny field that can be greatly affected by emotional highs and lows. Jones also added that he had three daughters, whom he said he encouraged to go into macro trading because “any man or woman can do anything they set their mind to.”
