MTV may have a tougher time finding candidates for Teen Mom. A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reveals a significant decline in teen pregnancies across the U.S. from 2007 to 2011. Most dramatically, the Hispanic teen birthrate plunged from 75 to 49 per 1,000 people, possibly because of the recession and immigrant crackdowns. Rates in Mississippi dropped by 28 percent, while Texas and New Mexico each saw a 24 percent drop. Experts cannot pinpoint why the declines are so drastic. Maybe it’s due to efforts like the one in California, where public-health officials are driving around a 40-foot “condom mobile.”
Hispanics saw dramatic drop of 40 percent in five years.
