Are the Hugh Hefners of the world to blame for menopause? Possibly. A study from PLOS Computational Biology points to lack of reproduction for the rise of menopause, instead of the widely held notion that menopause was just a natural prevention of pregnancy in older women. According to the researchers from McMaster’s University in Canada, menopause is an “unintended outcome of natural selection caused by the preference of males for younger female mates.” That also means that, theoretically, menopause could eventually be reversed, according to the research. But who really wants that?
May be result of preference for younger mates.
