A mother and her two daughters were allegedly murdered by the girls’ stepbrother and four of his friends in an “honor killing” in Pakistan. Four of the men have already confessed to the crime. The girls and their mother were killed after a video circulated of the girls dancing in the rain outside the family home. Their stepbrother said it had compromised the family’s honor and sought to restore it. This is not the first incident of honor killings in Pakistan by a long shot. The Human Rights Commission estimates that 900 women and girls were killed in 2011 alone for bringing shame to their families.
