Barbie may be the perfect woman—cute face, little waist, long legs. But “normal” Barbie, according to artist Nickolay Lamm, is hardly that. The artist, of MyDeals.com, took measurements of an average 19-year-old woman, whom he then made look like a Barbie doll. The Barbie mock-up, he said, actually looks pretty good and the current Barbies out there may be negatively affecting how young girls view themselves (tell us something we don’t know.) “If Barbie looks good as an average-sized woman in America, what’s stopping Mattel from making one?” he asks. Lamm agrees that girls should look up to a average-sized woman rather than the impossible standard we currently have.
