On Wednesday, actress Olivia Wilde and RYOT News co-founders David Darg and Bryn Mooser arrived in Senegal to document the work of economist Jeffrey Sachs’s One Million Community Health Workers Campaign. The campaign is working to train, equip, and deploy 1 million community health workers on the ground in sub-Saharan Africa by 2015 to meet urgent medical needs and reach the health-related Millennium Development Goals. In Senegal, Wilde will shadow health workers and visit with the community to learn more about why they’re so important to the health of sub-Saharan Africa’s poor. Live updates along with photo and video content will be posted on RYOT.org throughout the trip to expand awareness of the campaign. You can follow Wilde and RYOT’s journey here.
With goal to train 1 million by 2015.
