Tall Women More Prone to Cancer

Study shows 13 percent increase for every 4 inches of height.

A woman’s chances of being diagnosed with cancer post-menopause increases with her height, a new study reported. Researchers tested a group of 145,000 women between ages 50 and 79 and found that height was more associated with cancer than risk factors such as obesity. For every extra 4 inches of height, women were 13 percent more likely to develop any form of cancer. The researchers clarify that height isn’t a risk factor in itself; rather, childhood factors like diet and hormones may separately affect both growth and future cancer risk.
