Your sex life isn’t falling apart postbaby, according to new research. A study reports mommy isn’t the only one who experiences a change in sex drive after childbirth. A researcher from the University of Michigan wanted to see how postpartum sexuality worked as a social and relational process. The researchers found both partners experience a shift in sexuality—both highs and lows. Many of the lows have to do with caring for a new baby—and the increase in stress and sleepless nights—instead of actual disinterest in sexual relations. Prior research shows new dads have a testosterone drop when he becomes involved with children.
Even in same-sex couples both sides experience shifts in sexual desire.
