The CW is diving into previously uncharted territory. The network is developing a primetime drama about a Texas teenager who is transitioning from female to male. The show will be called ZE, produced by Michael London (pictured above) and written by Kyle Jarrow. Although transgender characters have been represented on shows before, such as Rebecca Romijn on Ugly Betty and Laverne Cox on Orange Is the New Black, this marks the first time a show will actually revolve around a transgender person. In typical CW fashion, the show is being called a “raw, quirky family drama.”
First time for a primetime lead.
