Scottish University Bans ‘Blurred Lines’

For glorifying sexual violence.

University of Edinburgh students really don’t want to find out what rhymes with “hug me.” The Scottish university has banned Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” from the school’s venues due to what they feel is a glorification of sexual violence. “There is a zero tolerance towards sexual harassment, a policy to end lad culture on campus, and a safe-space policy—all of which this song violates,” said Kirsty Haigh, the vice president of the university’s student union. The song, which Thicke claims is meant to “create conversation,” has lyrics such as “I know you want it,” and many feel the title refers to the line between yes and no.
