New Zealand Boys Claim ‘Rape Club’

Local police say there’s a lack of evidence for charges.

A group of 17- and 18-year-old New Zealand boys who call themselves the “Roast Busters” are broadcasting their alleged gang rapes—and now they’re calling other teens to join them.  "We take what we do seriously—some of you think this is a joke, it's not," says one of the boys in a video uploaded to Facebook. “This is hard, it's a job, we don't do this shit for pleasure.” Although Auckland’s police department admits it has been monitoring the group’s Facebook page and has spoken to several victims over the past two and a half years, none of the participants have been charged because the victims haven’t been “brave enough”—in the words of Detective Inspector Bruce Scott—to come forward.
